Why should I drink water on an empty stomach?

There’s this song we do sing back then in primary school, “Water for drinking, water for washing, water to cook our food, water for bathing, water to keep us hydrated, water is life”.

Water is the most essential fluid in the human body. The cells, tissues, and organs constitute water as it makes up the entire human body, it is routinely used in food production for cleaning, manufacturing purposes, sanitation, and as an ingredient.

Water is needed for proper digestion and absorption of nutrients, removal of waste product, regulation of body temperature and absorption of nutrients, etc.

It is one of the constituents of blood, hair, and skin.

There are benefits attached to drinking water on an empty stomach but most people find it difficult to drink first thing in the morning.

  1. Prevents kidney stone: Kidney stone is a disease that affects the kidney. This occurs in humans when we don’t take the required quantity of water the body needs. If you drink water on an empty stomach daily, it would help cleanse the body system by removing toxins excreted by the kidneys from the urethra in the form of urine to the exterior. If these harmful toxins accumulate on the kidney, it could lead to a kidney stone.
  2. Cleanses the bowels; Drinking it first thing in the morning helps cleanse the bowels. This allows the alkaline saliva content of the mouth to combine with the gastric acid within the stomach. Which in turn dilutes the acidity and eliminating toxins from the digestive system. When you drink it first thing in the morning helps to control the digestive system and prevents constipation within the bowels.
  3. Enhances weight loss: It is an important component of a diet for weight loss. It is also calorie-free and for that reason hasten the metabolism of the body. It causes the body to burn stored fats at a fast rate and quickens digestion.

Drink water first before you have your breakfast. Water is good for the body.
