RISE WITH RICE CAKE (MASA)

This week as I was surfing the internet I saw something exciting and I would like to share this with you.
Are you interested? I bet you are. Let me give you the gist of what I saw.
I found a recipe on how to make delicious rice cakes called Masa.
Rice cake (masa) is a Northern Nigerian delicacy popularly known among the Hausa made with rice and a few other ingredients. Rice cake is a delicious and nutritious meal you would want to try. The recipe won’t hurt your pocket at all.
INGREDIENTS
- 2 cups of short-grain rice.
- 4-5 teaspoons of sugar
- Salt.
- 1 teaspoon of yeast.
- Vegetable oil.
Note: you could use any rice of your choice but know you would get a different consistency. You would need a rice pancake pan. You could use a small fry pan if you don’t have it.
COOKING INSTRUCTIONS
- Soak the rice for 6 hours (overnight.
- After 6 hours, wash the rice.
- Place 2 cups of rice in a pot and cook for 15-20 mins/until the rice is soft.
- In the blender, add the washed rice and water. Blend till it’s smooth. Add the cooked rice and blend a little. Make sure it’s not watery.
- In a small bowl, add the yeast and sugar to warm water. Whisk properly. Leave it for 8-10 mins.
- In a big bowl, mix the blended rice with the yeast, cover it and let it rest for 6-8 hours. The mixture would rise.
- After 6-8 hours, add a pinch of salt, stir, and check for taste.
- Pour a little oil into the pan. Add a little portion of the rice mixture and allow to fry.
- The rice cake is ready. You can serve it with soup, beverages, or anything you want to take it with.
To avoid this stress, you could get rice flour from the market.
