Weight loss has become a rather complicated issue, as there are so many tips out there and it’s confusing. You don’t know which one would work for you and you get conflicting advice.
These 5 hacks may not work for you because we are all unique humans. Look for what works for you. If you’ve tried everything and nothing seems to work, then go visit your doctor.
Here are the 5 hacks on how to lose weight.
REDUCE YOUR STRESS LEVELS
In stress, everyone is different. Some people add weight under stress while some people lose weight. If you’ve tried everything, like exercise and diet and you’re still struggling with your weight, then you have to check your stress levels. When we are stressed, we produced cortisol (stress hormone) which makes it hard for us to lose weight, especially weight around our abdominal area. So, figure out a way to reduce your stress.
GET ENOUGH SLEEP
Exercising and having a healthy diet is not just the only way to lose weight. Good sleep is another important factor for losing weight. If you’ve been struggling with weight loss and you’ve been doing everything right, you need to check up on your sleep. Make sure you’re getting at least 7 hours of sleep.
EAT ENOUGH FIBRE, FRUITS, AND VEGETABLES.
In weight loss, one of the important things to do is to eat in a way where you become full for a while. This prevents you from snacking throughout the day. To stay full for a while, you would need to consume enough soluble fiber. Examples of soluble fiber are oats, chickpeas, flax seeds, etc. These have fiber that will keep you full and satisfied for quite some time. You also need to eat enough fruits and veggies.
CUT BACK ON ADDED SUGAR
You should cut back on added sugars like white sugar, fruit juice, maple syrup, and high fructose corn syrup. When you consume a lot of this added sugar, you will be at a high risk of obesity, diabetes, and heart-related problems. To reduce the amount of added sugars you consume, you need to; reduce the number of processed foods you eat. Consume whole foods, whole foods do not have any added sugars. Also, reduce the amount of sugar you have as liquid calories. E.g. Cola, juice, etc. You will keep taking them cause it can’t make you feel full.
KEEP TRACK OF YOUR PROGRESS
To keep track of your progress, you don’t have to check your weight every single day. That can be a bit much for you. Keeping track of your progress can be a very helpful thing in achieving your goals. People who keep track of their progress are more likely to achieve their goals in the long run. Keeping track of your progress keeps you motivated and knows when things are not working out right and how you could correct them.
Weight loss has one thing I.e. it has nothing to do with your happiness and self-worth. Feeling fulfilled and happy is an emotional work that has to be done outside weight loss.
To lose weight, you need to remember something ‘consistently and lifestyle changes. You’ve got to be consistent with whatever you’re doing and make it a long-term change.
