Before we move on to the method of preparation let’s learn some interesting things about spaghetti.
Spaghetti gets its name from its shape, spaghetti is the plural form of the Italian word “spaghetto”, which comes from the word spags which means cord, string, or twine.
Spaghetti is not to be confused with spaghettoni or spaghettini. ‘spaghetoni’ is a thicker type of spaghetti that takes more time to cook and a ‘spaghettini’ is thinner form, which therefore takes less time to cook. To cook spaghetti, put it in a large pot of salted boiling water stir it, and then leave to simmer for 10-12 minutes.
How would I stop my spaghetti from getting sticky?
Don’t expect oil to stop the pasta strands from sticking together, it will simply float on the surface of the water. The key to stopping your spaghetti from getting sticky is to stir. when you add the spaghetti to boiling water, it immediately releases starch, which makes the surface of the pasta to be sticky, stirring the pot separates the pieces so that as the pasta continues to cook the starch dissolves into the water.
Pasta is a good source of carbohydrates, it helps fuel your body by providing energy that is released slowly over time.

Italians never use spoons and forks when eating spaghetti, this is an American habit. In Italy, you twirl a fork against the dish.
